Re: pic of a factory tilt column ?
The trun signal plug is nothing to worry about. If the switch was swapped out chances are it would now have teh flat plug instead of the curved. That wouldn't mean it isn't truck tilt.
The real key will be the amount of steering shaft coming out the end. A factory will have roughly 1.5" and a van tilt will have roughly 5". Those are guesstimates from the top of my head so I could be a bit off, but should be close. There were some motorhomes that got a hybrid. It will have the short shaft, but the nuetral safety switch will be in the low position like the vans. That is a pretty easy fix though. |
Re: pic of a factory tilt column ?
thinkin this is a van tilt ,the shaft sticks out like 5 or so inches..and the back up light switch wouldnt work..also it didnt have the indents on the column for the shifter

Re: pic of a factory tilt column ?
The definitely sounds like a van tilt. I have one in the garage that will be going in my truck in a few weeks. It's a pretty easy mod, all isn't lost for you.

Here's a comparison...van on left - truck on right. Pic of correct years style neutral safety for an automatic also. Note the positions of the prongs.....they are different on the van neutral safety, thats why the plug did not fit possibly.
Like others say it can be modified and an adapter or something can be made so the neutral safety from a newer van can work also. Look at the height up up from bottom of column on the van compared to the truck tilt also...without lowering the neutral safety on a van it may cause inteference with mounting, as it hits the lower dash as you mount it. |
