i seem to be the next fool to look for these. i need stainless strips and one "tip" for the 58/59 fleetside bed. i need these parts only, but will take any piece to a full set.

One of the problems is that only 59s had it and few at that. I bought a whole truck to get mine.

Re: s/s fleetside bed trim

Over the past several years I've boughten two $3500 trucks. Granted I still have some value there but mainly it was to strip the box trim. I then also have bartered for two more sets of somewhat useable pieces just to give me two nice restorable sets in the end. I don't even want to say what I'll have in them when all the pieces are replated or and straightened and polished. Might have been easier to paid $30k up front for a completed truck. Oh and I have two fleetside trucks that this trim will go on someday if I can get the trim insured........Good luck.

Hey Mark. Don't you have a picture of your trim you carry arround in your wallet right next to the kids ? I still need the longbox stainless, which I figure is more rare as everyone else who finds it cuts it to fit on a short bed. You know any production numbers on fleetside? Paul

Somebody over on the Stovebolt VERY recently posted some for sale in the parts swap meet. I like the trim but to me it isn't worth what people are asking. I agree that you'd probably be ahead of the game to buy a truck with the trim already in place.

Good luck!

Re: s/s fleetside bed trim

I talked to that Sean a couple of days ago about that trim set and he sent me pictures. He is now starting the bidding at $850 (already has this bid) and has many people interested. I personally know what it takes to restore a set with the die cast plating and the stainless straightening and polishing and it takes $1000 minimums to show restore a decent set of trim like he has. So maybe the price of a restored set has passed the $1500 mark and headed up to $2000 if you can find one. I do know they are hard to find good pieces not all pitted and crushed stainless.
