SM265 mated to a 203 ????
Ok I have been through the searches and could not find a answer for my questions. First I have a sm465, that came out of a early 80's 3/4, which has the 35 spline count output shaft. Secondly I have three 203's, which two have the aluminum output shaft case from late model 70's 1/2 th350 vehicles (27 input spline). The third transfer case has no tag but has the cast iron output case.
Ok my questions are as follows: 1. Which transfer case is better, the aluminum output case shaft or the iron one? 2. Where can I look for an oem adaptor for the sm465 to mate to the 203? Because, I know an aftermarket piece will cost a pretty penny. 3. Which one do I need to modify? For the two to mesh together? I want to make a doulbler once I find a 205 down the road. |
Re: SM265 mated to a 203 ????
Find a np205 with adapter now to mate up to the sm465 and save the np203 for the doubler.

Re: SM265 mated to a 203 ????
I thought I would need to modify the input shaft from the np203 and find a adaptor plate to mate them together. Does not the np203 front half get used on the doubler while the rear section is a np205

Is there such a thing as an adapter for this combo? I keep on reading about sm465 mated to np205s but never a np203; or th350/700r4 to np203s. I checked offroad designs and advanced adapters with no luck.

Re: SM265 mated to a 203 ????
Thanks jeffspower for the info. Now I have a pic to go off of. Now I know why no one uses these sm465 on doubler set ups. I can not believe that only one year is all it was produced. Oh yea it never seems to fail, when Iam broke all the deals come up. When I have money to spend on the project, I always seem to buy it at full price. What a buget build up! lol lol
