divorced t-case
I'm planning on converting my truck to diesel (see thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=275428 ) and I'm planning on mounting a rockwell 221 divorced t-case from a '66 K-10 with the install in preparation for conversion to 4wd at a later date. Any advice out there? I'm fully set up to fab a x-member for it, how does this sucker mount anyway?
Also, I'm planning on using the FGB52 front spring hanger setup from diy4x.com. Anyone have any experience with this setup or company? Thanks ahead of time! |
Re: divorced t-case
Everyone I have heard speak of Kert (fabricator) @ diy4x.com. Has very good things to say about him and the stuff he makes. Grendel is going to use them on his truck. here is his build thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=240908

Re: divorced t-case
If you must run the Rockwell T-case, make sure you go through it first. Definitely give it new seals even if it looks like it doesn't need it.
Then when you have it in the truck, keep a close eye on the gear oil level. These cases like to run the input bearing dry if you are low on lube, and bad things happen then. |
Re: divorced t-case
I dont know about the divorced rocks i used a dodge devorced 205 and they mount from the top not the bottom so if there the same you may have to do a body lift to get them to fit. for a shifter I am making a cable shifter. I didnt like how the rockwell sounded like a jet engine taking off all the time.
One trouble that poeple with devorced cases have id they like to move fron to back may not be an isue with the rocke well if it uses and under the case crossmeber but the 205 under hard wheeling like to move so they say to build a brace of some type to go from the back bottom of the case to the frame. |

I like how the divorced case give you the ability to use somthing else later if you want if I ever get tiered of shifting my nv4500 I can cange to an auto wit out having to get adaptors to make it all work.

Re: divorced t-case
I'm the same way, but let me know if you decide to get rid of that "junky" NV4500 anyway :haha:
but seriously, I also like the idea of equal length driveshafts, I've ALWAYS got a spare! |
Re: divorced t-case
I that is one other plus you only have to have one spair when on the trailes.
I was going to go auto for a while but I just didnt want to use an 700r4 and I didnt like the idea of the 480le ECM . |
