this rig has been in my yard since mid July. It belongs to my Nephew. Could any of you out there give me an idea what she might be worth. I will get off my lazy butt tomorrow and get you the title year tomorrow morning. it is a1/2 ton with a bad 454 (which came unglued on me 140 miles from home which could explain the pix with it on the trailer as I towed it home.

Later model 1/2 ton 4wd with a bad motor ? maybe 1k - 1500$

Its one of those things that a $1000 motor swap might make it worth 4-5k though --in the pics the body looks pretty clean, so if there's no bondo or rust -- maybe a little more --- who knows -- its a buyer's market for gas guzzlers now, not a seller's market though, unless you have something really unique or pristine

You sure thats a half ton? There's an awful lot of bolts on that rear dif. cover.
For value go on craigslist and see what else you can find like it.

As for year, if the wiper control is on the dash its an 81-82. Thats the best I can do for you.

Looks like the 12 bolt rear to me which would mean it has a half ton diff.$1000-1500 with bad motor if the body is in good shape. If nothing else look for a good running small block and put it in and then it would be worth more.

put a motor in it and i bet you could get over $3500 for it as it sits $1000-1200

okay, now the registration say's it's an '81, btut as you can tell by the pix it is parts of a few different years (example would be that grille).
Also the emblems say it's a 3/4 ton(but that doesn't mean much) Ineed to get the center covers off the wheels and count the lugnuts. Front hub looks 3/4 but that rear diff looks too small (tube diameter) for a 3/4

Re: 80's Chevy 1/2 ton

that grille is off of a '89-'91 or 2 Blazer or Suburban and is a pretty popular upgrade for these trucks, so that wouldn't necessarilly make it a mutt ---- but mismatched suspension would be weird. 3/4 tons i thought had 14 bolt rearends as a general rule (but i've been wrong before)

Ya it looks like its in pretty awesome shape. I would say some where around 1500$ with the bad motor and with a motor some where around 3k.

dump a good running 350 in place of the 454, looks like a $3K+ truck if its as nice as the pics make it look. the 454 itself should be worth $500 easy as long as the block isnt windowed. what exactly "came apart" on it?

didnt the later years light duty three quarter tons have 6 lug rears? could be a possibility, ive seen the 3 quarter vans with 6 lugs.

on the 88 trucks that is true, there are no 6 lug 3/4 ton trucks before 1987.

I guess if I would have taken the time to actually count the bolts I could have gotten that right...:o Just haven't ever owned one of these with anything but a 10-bolt?

Not really sure since no one has gotten into tearing it apart. but as I was climbing a medium grade pulling a basicly empty 24' enclosed snowmobile trailer I hear what I thought was pre-ignition,which made me uncomfortable so we parked on the other side and checked her out smelling hot glycol. Crossed the Vantage bridge on I 90 and exited to check and fill vital fluids including fuel since we had a 10 mile heavy grade to pull and the banging started as we left the gas station so we started checking different things . Since it was borrowed I felt it best to call the tilt bed.

Wish I could talk him out of it for 1.5K, but I think I'd be dreaming ,since it looks like about that much in tires and wheels on it
