Any Jersey Members out there...

I was wondering if anyone from New Jersey knows how many years old a vehicle has to be before it can get antique tags on it.Some people have told me it has to be 20 years old, some people have told me it has to be 25 years old.I was just wondering if anyone from New Jersey knows for sure, thanks!

Your vehicle needs to be at least 25 years old, plus I believe you will then have to use specialty insurance, such as Haggerty or Grundy. You can find policies that let you drive with few mileage and/or usage restrictions, but all require that you have a primary vehicle registered and that the classic is designated as a secondary vehicle.

PS- The proper NJ MVS lingo is "Historic Vehicle". They also have special registrations for "Street Rod" and "Collector Vehicle". The collector vehicle is for vehicles newer than 25-years old, but they must be rare, like a Lambo or something similar.

I'm not sure of your age, but most collector car insuarance companies won't cover you until both you and the vehicle are 25+
