Transmission Crossmember for 4x4
I'm looking to replace the transmission crossmember on my 72 K10. Is anyone running an aftermarket transmission crossmember for their 4x4? How's the fit and who made it? Are the 2wd and 4wd crossmembers the same?
Thanks, Whit |
Re: Transmission Crossmember for 4x4
whats wrong with the one you have?

Re: Transmission Crossmember for 4x4
It's flimsy, it sits about 2" lower than it needs to and it takes up a lot of room that I would like to have for the exhaust.

You would either have to do it or have someone custom fab one.

Re: Transmission Crossmember for 4x4
It sounds like you have the wrong crossmember. On my 205, the transfercase is lower than the crossmember. Do you have a body lift?

Re: Transmission Crossmember for 4x4
No body lift any more but I am running an Atlas transfer case tucked up high for clearance. However, even with the 205 which did hang below the crossmemember, there were dings on the crossmember from the previous owner. I guess he was lucky he didn't rip out the transfer case.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer but I think I am going to build a skid plate which will include the crossmember.
