What to do about spot welds in new tailgate

I just received my new Mar-K tailgate, but it has a lot of spot welds, I don't know if that's how they were originally, but I want to smooth them out. what's the best solution?

I came back to see if anyone has replied. I have recently stripped down my tailgate and was wondering the same thing. I have thought about using the mig and a small grinder to fill and smooth off. Otherwise it would have to body filler.

Will keep checking back to see what the experts have to say.

I am still waiting for someone to provide some suggestions. I think using the mig would be a lot of work as compared to body filler.

if it was a customer, 9 out of 10 times i'd use bodyfill, for my own, or someone who whants it done with the mig then so be it, it takes longer but not much....max.

OK, I'll try using my mig and see how it turns out.
Thanks all.

I was going to fill mine with filler. but was suggested by a body guy that it will just start to crack over time where the metal meets. So I just painted mine. Looks great either way.

I welded all mine and used a flapdisk to smooth them all out. Considering the time I spent on other parts of the truck, I really didn't see it as an excessive extra effort.

We make our parts like the original. These spot welds are there to hold the metal together and give it the correct strength that it needs.
If you do not like the look, try knocking down the high spots with a file, dremmel, or other grinding tool. Do not be too aggressive.
Then use an automotive spot putty to fill in the low spots. Your best bet is to contact a body shop or other professional service that can tell you what works best.
