4WD suspension options...
 

What can I do to my 72 K10 to get rid of the front and rear leafs? The ride is horrible and we are looking for options. We still want a lift but not a leaf lift. What else is there that we can bolt in? Coil-overs? Trailing arms? 4link? I cant find any alternatives online that are for the 4WD. Any ideas are appreciated!!

im no expert but try a 2wd rear set up or get ideas from that

I would have to say that would depend on how much money you want to spend. Anything is possible for the right amount.

I have seriously thought about Fab-Tech new Jeep kit and modifying it to work, but your talking about $6K-$10K for the kit and installation.

there is a guy on here doing 4 link with airbags but it requires a LOT of fabrication.... get bouncier tires!

Link suspension with coils or coil-overs. That's lots of dough for the conversion. Last I heard, ORD has kit in the works to do this up front, not sure on the rear.

If you want better ride without the expense of moving to a link/coil setup, spend the money on good quality leafs. Deaver being the best. Deaver springs are much softer due to the high # of thin leafs they use to build the packs. They are soft and flex like mad. They will taylor make a set of springs for you.

The other option if you choose to stay with leafs, but arent afraid of some fab work is to move to longer springs. By using a longer spring up front (52'ers from the rear of 73-87's are the norm), you'll get softer action for a similar amount of lift as stock length lifted springs. This would require addtional mods like cross-over steering to facilitate the change in springs.

I asked about price doing 4link and coil overs front and rear for my truck from a guy, think he is in Ohio. He does great work for show quality trucks and it was going to run over 15,000 for my truck. That is having everything powder coated or chromed.
