'55 Chevy 2nd fender repair question
I am beginning work on my 55 2nd series truck. I have a question for you experienced restorers. One of my fenders is pretty badly rusted on the lower tip. I know that I can replace the outer skin pretty easily, but what about the inner support where the bolts screw in? My idea is to take some of the retained nuts on pieces of sheet metal from my donor Trans Am, and rebuilding the fender tip. Is there a better way?
Jeff Thanks in advance!! I have learned a lot from you guys already, and will need a lot more advice before I'm done. Here are some picture of my project. Re: '55 Chevy 2nd fender repair question
I guessing you are referring to the front fenders... if so the brace is available in the aftermarket.

Re: '55 Chevy 2nd fender repair question
I ordered the brace today. Also picked up fender tips and cab corners. Will have to wait a while on new rockers/steps and door hinge pockets. :chevy:

Re: '55 Chevy 2nd fender repair question
It's a great truck...I love the patina look!
I noticed in the 3rd pic it says "GW 6000" on the bed just above the step. Do you happen to know what it was used for/what company had their name on the door? I find the history aspect pretty cool! BTW, Welcome to the board!!! |
Re: '55 Chevy 2nd fender repair question
It came from Missouri From Cope Farms. There is a Cope Farms in Pineville, Mo Now. Which is about 5 miles from Lanagan, Mo. I may have to call and see about some history.
