My truck is too bouncy...?

I have an '81 shortwheel base pickup with drop spindles and hanger/shackles. A previous owner also removed a leaf spring from the rear.

My truck feels too bouncy when I go over bumps, rail road tracks, and take good corners.

Should I get new springs? My air shocks in the back seem okay... Should I drop it some more?

suggestions???

Mine was dangerously bouncy when I bought it. A new set of shocks cured that. It's a stock suspension.

I lowered my 73 the same way minus the leaf removal and the ride didn't change. I don't have air shocks either. was your drop 2.5/4 or did you go more? I know lmc recomends special drop shocks if you go any lower than above. goodluck bob

Most likely bad shocks, mine has been doing the same thing and it's on the same shocks it came from the factory with in '78...

When I baught my 86, a couple years back, I removed the original Delco Performer shocks that came with the truck as OE equipment, and they still kinda worked believe it or not....I replaced them with Monroe Magnums, and never looked back

According to a young lady, my truck has the "bouncy seats" because it has springs in the bench and whenever i went over speedbumps with bad schocks the truck would bounce, and so would the seat, kinda funny haha.

I'm thinking that it is because the prior owner cut out the big bottom leaf. Maybe I also have too much air in my shocks.... Any more thoughts?

My 77 had the original delco shocks in the rear. They were completely blown out. You could literally just pump them up and down by hand. Of course with 8 leaf 3/4 ton springs, it wasn't really noticeable but it seemed like it had no stability on corners. Put on a set of Monroe Gas Magnums and it rides nice now.
