dearched 52's?

hi fellas. i'm currently running a 2" Tough Country EZ ride all spring suspension system. both on and off road the ride is fine for the most part but i have felt better in other rigs. im considering a 52" conversion up front but i don't want to lift my truck the 4 inches usually associated with a 52" swap. could a set of 3/4 ton 52's be dearched by 2 inches so i could enjoy their benefits without the extra height? anybody experience such a swap? thanks ahead! -steve

I my self havent done it but i would think you could remve one of the springs from the pack and be just fine and get what you want with out having to dearch the spring.

i considered pulling a spring but i have a big block and winch bumper and was afraid this might allow too much sag or bottom out off road. also wouldn't this affect cornering at highway speeds even more than what the flexy 52's are noted for? i won't be running a sway bar due to cross over steering. thanks.

I have only ridden in one 52" front chevy, and it was offroad. It is so flexy that crossover is required. If you have a big block and winch bumper the 52s might be too soft and cause hwy drivability problems.

X2 on what earl said(its free try that first)

I think its goig to be hard to say you may find you need a set of cutsme springs from alcoa or some place to get what you want. If it was me I would start by remvoving some of the leafs. An geting a set of adjustable shocks like the rancho 9000 so you can tune your ride to fit you even if you end up doing somthing else with the springs later you woudl always be able to adjust the ride to your liking easly.
