anyone had a wiring harness short out ?

How do ? I just bought an '82 C/30 Silverado crewcab. It's wiring harness is in pretty bad shape........even part of the fuseblock is melted. Has this happened to anyone else ? When I go to a junkyard, the appropriate trucks I find have had their harnesses removed.

Thanks.

Bummer, I hate electrical problems.

If you want to just rewire the truck with a new harness checkout these catalogues which are free. www.lmctruck.com www.cheyennepickup.com www.yearone.com
For one of the best replacement harnesses go over to www.painlesswiring.com A little pricey but well labeled for installation.

Harness meltdown!

Had this same thing happen a long time ago, starter solenoid would not disengage and before the battery could be disconnected melted the whole wiring harness under the dash and engine compartment.
Also being a firefighter, I have seen many cars and trucks burn from bad wiring, and shorting out problems. Among other numerous things.

What about a place to get wiring diagram?

matt67350,
Checkout www.ebaymotors.com for a factory service manual for your year model. I bought one for $35. I've seen some go for $15. It all depends on the year. The factory service manual has great details on every part and very nice details with the electrical diagrams. Sometimes you can find a manual just with electrical diagrams too. I recommend everyone try to find a factory manual for their truck. More information than you can dig up anywhere.
