mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
ok its time for me to buy some drop spindles but I see so many different vendors. chassis tech is about 180 and mcguaghys are about 250. Hoping anyone can give me some advice or maybe steer me to another brand. Hoping that I can get links so I can compare prices to quality.

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
I run early classic enterprises, very nice fit and the install went flawlessly :ito:
Don't have any experience with those other brands, sorry. |
Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
Early classic is only 229 and I haven't heard anything bad about them. I installed some of their rear drop components and it went really smoothly and they look amazing.

3 Attachment(s)
I see alittle difference between these three. The mcgaughys are 240 shipped. ec are 229 plus s/h. ct are 200 shipped.

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
well between those two, one is top of the line, and the other is the total bottom of the line... so you decide

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
:) k i cant sell anything on here without subscribin... whats your opinion about the beltech 3" drop spindles? i was thinkin about puttin them on my 72 3/4 but that means i have to convert to 1/2... would it be better to bet the 3/4 or use the 1/2?

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
I would not even consider anything from AIM(Chassis Tech). Do a search aon AIM and you will find countless stories of peoples dissatisfaction with this company.

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
Another vote for Early Classis Enterprises.
|
Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
ECE...they are perfect everytime. I would not EVEN consider any one else.

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
Has anyone had bad luck with the ones form CPP?
|
Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
My CPP spindles are great. I got the whole front end kit form them (drop spindles, rotors, ball joints, tie rods, stainless brake lines, ect) and my only complaint is that the new stainless brake lines didn't match up to my new calipers. Another board member helped me out on this, but other than that, fit and finish was great. A little more tech support would be helpfull, though.

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
Got my McGaughy's from GMCPauls (Site Vendor). http://www.gmcpauls.com/67-72_d&s.htm
Happy with the price and fit. |

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
I kept hearing problems about McGaughys spindles having clearance issues with 15" stock wheels, and even some aftermarket wheels. Is this not an issue anymore?

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
*bump*

and *bump* again.

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
I have the 2 1/2 drop spindles from CPP they look nice and work great!

Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
I've heard the 15" rim interference is regardless of manufacturer of spindle. Its a mathmatical issue.
As you lower the ride height of the spindle, it raises the center point of the rim higher in relation to the lower control arm. so, the rather small diameter of a 15" rim causes the rim to hit the lower control arm while turning.... So, my memory tells me its a drop spindle issue, not a who manufactured the spindle issue... Someone correct me if I'm incorrect here, as I'm about to mount my Chassis Tech spindles soon... The only issue I have with Chassis Tech/AIM stuff is.... I never get anything I've bought from them on my vehicles.... bought some front & rear lowering springs for my 2000 2wd Silverado... then sold it before I got the stuff on (still have the F/R springs), now I have spindles that have been getting dusty since Sept for my 68... Ok, maybe it me... just my .02 cents worth... |
Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
it doesn't seem as if anyone knows.
i'm going to go over to the suspension forum and ask, since nobody over here seems to know with any relative certainty. |
Re: mcgaughys vs. chassis tech drop spindles
67 cst answered the question already ... any time you mix a dropped spindle, a small diameter wheel and have insufficient back spacing you're gonna have interference issues ... regardless of manufacturer.
