Are your hangers riveted or bolted? How about the crossmembers? The frames taper in behind the rear axle.Does the serial number start with a "K"?If it a`72 does it start with "CK"?The frame# is left side top of rail back of engine about under the cab.

What year is it and can you shoot a few pics of the undercarriage so we can see if things look factory?

Re: Is my truck a true 4x4???

the hangers are rivited on.dont know about the crossmember the truck is in the shop right now but I remember seeing the rivets in the hangers. the cab vin# isnt the origional vin#the origonal cab had a tree fall on it so the guy i got it from put a new cab on it and I dont think he changed the vin plates.I'll try to get some pic's of it when I go back up to the shop monday.

Vin number should be on your title. Sounds factory to me if the hangers are riveted on. I dont no anyone who has a hot rivet setup to put them back on to a factory look.

Are you going to be able to license it where you live without a title?

In Georgia it's No Title......No Problem. They don't even want to issue a new title if your vehicle is more than 14 years old.

that is fantastic. Here in colorado you gotta jump through hoops of fire to get a older vehicle titled. Outta state ones at least.

Must be nice in Illinois they have a coronary if you do any modifications such as a cab change 2wheel to 4wheel conversions. In order to get a title for one of my older projects we had to have a rebuild liscense fill out 90 pages of paperwork and a state inspector went through it with a fine tooth comb making sure every little nothing detail was right. I am a lot more leary of changing cabs out after all the bs in Illinois.

Im ready to move to Georgia.

Here's my 72 c-10 converted to a 4x4. 383 stroker, 3" body, 4" suspension. Should have seen me trying to get this titled in Utah. Incorrect vin # on title from state of Virginia. But it's on the road and doing just fine now.

I'm not saying factory or not with out more info (pics) but a lot of blazer frames got swapped under these trucks. Depending on how good the cut/welds are, these can pass as "factory" 4x4's.

Re: Is my truck a true 4x4???

2wd frame?...... look at the wheel well arches on the frame. I believe the 2wd frames will have holes/cutouts where the original arms would have bolted into. These are large 1 1/2" (approx) cutouts and there will be indentations also.

IMHO.

why would a blazer frame be put under a truck? blazer frames are shorter, even shorter than swb trucks and the work involved in lenghthening the frame would make it unrealistic

it would be much easier to just swap all the suspension parts over and bolt them to the truck frame

Truck Hippy 03-02-2008 08:44 AM

Re: Is my truck a true 4x4???

Putting a blazer frame under a 2wd is alot easier than you may think. The frame is shorter but you can chop up a lwb frame and add it without much work. Its done alot, around here anyway.
