Dakota Digital Gauges

Anyone have the Digital gauges in their truck? I did a search and didn't find a thread on it. So I wanted to ask...
How do you like them and how was the install?
If you have pictures that would be great. Thanks!

Had them in my 78 blazer, liked them fine, easy to install. Go to www.dakotadigital.com They used to come in several colors but now it looks like teal or blue. bout $650. good luck

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

Thanks! yeah I'm not sold on them yet but I'm thinking about it. I have a few more things to check but I think my stock gauge pod is boned. The people who had the truck before me really like to hack wires.

Well, the fuel part works.

I really like those digital clusters, but they're a little bit pricey for me. anyone got some ideas for a budget solution?

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

How about $140 off that price? You can still get the other colors, but they cost more and they are harder to see...

Actually I think the green one is, but I have the blue one going in my truck.

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

My plastic gauge cover is scratched up do you mount these with or without that? I guess it comes in it's own pre-laid out cluster???

Captkaos 03-05-2008 04:28 AM

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

You don't use the plastic piece. The whole cluster assembly is replaced, you only reuse the black bezel.

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

No problem. I can get a pic if you want to see what you get, mine is open in the garage if you want to see it...

(hmm, that's not what they said in High school :D )

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

You can do individual gauges too.

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

Hey! If you can get them easy sure thing! I would love some pictures...

OH sure! Now I see why you like the green ones they are $25 more.

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

I can get some tonight.
I didn't say I liked the green :D Just that they are probably easier to read. (I was really talking about Teal vs Blue). I like blue though.

Can you get cheaper? Sure! Just not digital. If your going to throw money at it you might a well get something you Really like, Right?

Yeah, I think I need the sender. Don't I? I also thought it said the gear you where in for automatics? (Drive, Park, etc...)
Edit: Never mind I think I see it in the picture!

$700 for a NEW aftermarket gauge set isn't bad...whether it is digital or analog. I have a little less than that in my analog gauge cluster assmebly. There are other companies that want $900 for the same thing.

One could do it less on used or cheaper name brand gauges...but you get what you pay for.

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

this ? is the same as DrillingMachines,do you set your own odometer,or does it start at 0?

Captkaos 03-07-2008 02:36 AM

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

Where is everyone getting $700? I thought we covered that already in post #5?

If you want it to display the gear you are in, you need the sender.

Like all other speedo's you buy, they are set to 000000.

Re: Dakota Digital Gauges

Sorry Capt. The drugs I'm on must be effecting my reading skills. I clearly says that the gear display sender is needed for what I want. For some reason I was thinking the sender was needed for the gas tank level. WOOOOO!!! ... And I don't even remember taking any drugs... Must have been good stuff!
