bench seat lock pics wanted
hey guys the benchseat on my 86 silverado dosnt seem right, the seat back moves freely forward on the hinge, it looks like theres suposed to be a lock mechanism down on the side, has anyone got pics of what it should look like or has had this problem themselves?
thanks :metal: |
Re: bench seat lock pics wanted
Mine moves freely. Has also did the same on my 85 and the newer bench i got out of an 87. They all have a metal bar that drops down but i am still not really sure how it locks.

Re: bench seat lock pics wanted
Deja' vu...
I was just talking to a guy who is coming out to buy a bench seat. He kept insisting that the seat should have a lock and release. I kept insisting they didn't. So I went out and looked at the seat I was selling and the one in my '86 and neither one locks. |

Re: bench seat lock pics wanted
On the early seats , they were stationary and didnt fold forward ( I think ) , in the middle 70's they went to a folding seat with a locking mechanism , and on the 81-87 seats , I think they tilt forward with no locking capability . It sounds like your seat is correct . I am sure there is someone on here with the exact info needed . Frank

Frank is correct, only the early models had locks on them, after about 80 they were all non locking.
