Ran my 72 at the strip
Just got back from the track, truck ran 8.20's in the 1/8th. Tranny is hesitating on 2-3 shift, hit the rev limiter and took way to long to shift. I am hoping on getting in the 7's with no spray. I guess 8.20's isn't too bad without spray. Does anyone know what these trucks weigh? Its a 72 c10 shortbed, all steel.

Re: Ran my 72 at the strip
I take it it's a small block. Mine weighed around 3715 with a big block. I've taken all the ac stuff, heater core, blower motor and the box for the air from under the dash off.

mines a swb small block with a wood floor and no heater box or heat assm. and no bumpers or inner fender wells and with me in it and like 1/2 a tank i weighed 3460.

Re: Ran my 72 at the strip
Couch,
That is light.. I would think mine should be lighter being an LS1/4L80E. Last time I weighed it, it was 3,840 with me in it and a full tank. Since then I lost the front bumper (had a roll pan in the rear) put draglites on it, yanked the heater and swapped back to manual brakes. Your's is still going to be lighter... |
Re: Ran my 72 at the strip
I'm running a 383 stroker and th400 with no heater box.

ive been told theres no way its that light at the track.then i bust out the slip that says it. i should upload it into my photobucket just in case, i coulda proved myself on a previous board. by wooden floored bed.its just a piece of plywood. the original wood was shot. so that shed like 50 to 60 lbs. i'd guess |
Re: Ran my 72 at the strip
I'm hoping to get it in the 7's without spray. First I need to find out why the 2-3 shift is hesitating, the aftermarket dipstick is not accurate. When it reads full on this stick it is way overfilled. The pan on it is deeper than any th400 I've seen, it is a stock stamped steel piece. I was told this is a hd version that was put in 3/4 and 1 ton models. I am wondering if the fluid was a little low, would it cause the hesitation? If the fluid was a little high would it foam and cause the hesitation. It is not slipping at all, launches very hard and chirps 2nd but hesitates going to 3rd. Anyone ever had this problem?

Re: Ran my 72 at the strip
Is there anything special about removing all the heater stuff or is it just unbolt and yank
|
Re: Ran my 72 at the strip
unbolt yank and make a plate to cover the hole!

Re: Ran my 72 at the strip
My old c20 weighted right at 4000 lbs and thats with a small block and a muncie sm465 trans. I think a all stock 1/2 ton weighed about 3700 lbs.
