Looking for a 12v Ignition Feed for Headrest DVD Player 07 GMC Classic

I installed a Invision DVD system in my 07 Crew Cab Classic. Got all the wires run and mounted and put the control box in the console. I need a 12v ignition feed for them. Where's the best place to tap in. Need someplace simple. The wires come out by the gas pedal. Its only a 5a fuse so they dont draw that much.

On another note where do you put the remotes/earphones when not in use? Anyone got any pics. Thanks

I would go for the accessory circuit, because it's on when the key is turned back to the accessory position, and it's also on with the key is in the "on" position.

The ignition circuit is only active when the key is in the "on" position, so if you wanted to watch a movie with the truck parked, you couldn't turn the key back to accessory position to keep drain off the battery.

There's another problem. these new trucks dont have a "turn back accessory" on the key anymore. I was thinking about putting in a bypass switch but i dont know if I will ever use it. I found a RR WPR fuse that says not used in the manual but there is a fuse in it. Can you buy mini fuse taps at Radio Shack?

The set that I installed were GM. They have a lead that runs all the way to the junction block and plugged right in. I know that the 07's can really run the battery down fast with just the key on so you will probably only want to use them with the engine running. Some of the programs that we downloaded for reprogramming purposes took up to 20 minutes. If we did not attach a jump box to the battery with the key on it would run the battery down in just that short time. Hope the kids enjoy those cool headrests by the way.

Thanks for the tip Dave. I went to the local auto parts and found a "add a circuit" I used the "RR WPR" fuse and put it in there since it is 12v ignition fed. These are the Invision ones that GM sells but man the directions suck...and I used to be a GM Tech. I still dont know what that fuse is for?

If you plug these into the juction block like you did do they turn off with the truck? if not do they really expect the kids to turn them off every time...like come on there kids

It may use the RAP to keep them on for spell. I didn't get to really use them. I just had to do the grunt work. The circuts they had me plug into had no info other than "plug in here." They are power 12V and ground so I suppose you could put a switch in there somewhere if hooking to battery power. Someone or something has got to turn them off. I am not that electro/automated/technoid type of guy hench the 67 carb truck but I have been around it and know a few people smarter than the average 12 volt circut. David

Is this the same juction box that is under the dash where the trailer plug goes in?

All Done. Easy to do after you do 1. Directions really suck. Anyway here's the finished product. I would recommend them to anyone but they are pricey. I wanted to go with the factory clean look and this way i didn't have to find a place for the DVD player, they are mounted each headrest. The add a circuit is the way to go for tapping into a 12v feed

Good job. I bet you don't get the "Are we there yet ?" questions as often. Be sure to keep the instructions for the next tech that needs to take the seats out so he knows where to unplug it at. Roll on Bro. David
