Help Newbie
About 4 months ago a friend of my step-dad wanted to get rid of a 1965 shortbed stepside 1/2 c10, so i said to him i wanted it and would pay money but he said it was fine and gave it to me free as long as i towed it and now its mine.
i have a 1974 454 w/4 bolt mains out of a 3/4 pickup and was wondering if i should put that in or sell it and put a 400? i would like a 408ci stroker eventually with some nitrous because my main goal is a street/strip setup mainly towards the strip portion,or would it be a better idea to destroke the 454 to 427 and see if i can build close to 550hp or alittle less and run it n/a? THANK you for listening to a newbie and his rant :metal: |
Re: Help Newbie
:hi::welcome2: From Ohio!
I don't know much about racing, but if I already had a 454 just laying aroung looking for a home I'd put her in the old truck and give it a try. Good luck with what ever you try :smoke: :nx: |
Re: Help Newbie
yeah but the person i got the motor from was an ass. his idea of a tune up was to change individual spark plugs every 2 or three months, and it has a cracked flexplate so im wondering what else is wrong

Re: Help Newbie
Well, now that's another story. I wouldn't want to put a bunch of time putting a motor into a truck I really didn't know about. You should just build you own. Then you'll know what you've got.:ito:
