I finally started my new rear frame rails.. its based on justin's (Fnlow ) old frame.. saw it about a year ago and loved it and couldnt wait to start mine... its designed to lay out with 22's and relocate my gas tank to the rear aswell.. this is going to be a really slow build but i will put up pictures as i go on.

looks sweet man, making good progress. how much kickup did you go with 15.5"?

Re: bedsleds rebirth

jlaird- yes this backhalf is for the truck in my avatar
fnlow69- i decided to go with a 17 in kickup. so i could clear for a bigger wheel and tire or maybe but a bump stop.
since mine is a stepside i will have to stretch the fenders too. i will be putting a 1 - 1 1/2 strip in the fenders to raise the top..
lots of plans for this truck but it will be slow comming

isnt it funny that right after you do something like this, you think to yourself, "wow i guess there is no turning back now!"

have you read any treads or heard of the york compressors, i have one on my 99 tahoe and it works great, might what to look into it and its cheaper then the kits they sell

bedsled71 03-13-2008 07:50 PM

Re: bedsleds rebirth

i can get a york for about 200 bucks, rebuilt and a guy i know at a shop told me that he would redrill the holes and tap them for the bigger fittings and hook it up so the oil doesnt get into the lines and i just have to make the bracket to mount it.. i just dont know much about them

Re: bedsleds rebirth

i just noticed how many blocks u had on your old back half to lift that axle. damnnnnnnnnnnnnn thers liek 6 inches there

6chevy9 03-13-2008 11:53 PM

Re: bedsleds rebirth

are u keeping the stepside bed on it?

bedsled71 03-14-2008 08:36 AM

Re: bedsleds rebirth

bildo- yeah alot of blocks.. before it was only the link and a block becuase my notch wasnt that big. then i made a bigger notch and i didnt wanna move my upper bag bracket so i just put another there...

bedsled71 03-14-2008 08:38 AM

Re: bedsleds rebirth

yeah ill probably keep the stepside on it . i would like to have a fleetside too and change them whenever i liked but i dont know.. im going to stretch the fenders though because the tires hit the tops.. i cut holes to clear it before

i decided to a two link again. started on the link bars today and got an idea of how everythings going to be placed. still waiting on bag brackets and link bar ends but this is what i have so far..

FnLow69 03-17-2008 10:28 AM

Re: bedsleds rebirth

just curious, why a two link again?

bedsled71 03-17-2008 08:10 PM

Re: bedsleds rebirth

ive been reading about two links, four links, wishbones ect..
i know the two link doesnt articulate like the other links but i like how it doesnt have sway, and i like how it looks.. im going alittle different with this one though. my last 2 link was 24in. these will be about 40in. the bags will be in a different place and i will have better shocks..
i dont do side to side or drag race so i dont have to worry about the instant center with a 4 link, a 2 link kinda turns your rearend into one huge sway bar, which might not seem to comfortable but im use to it,
i just wanted a simple design as well

Re: bedsleds rebirth

Looks good. I also built a 2 link for my s-10 and 77. I have ridden in 4 links over axle and they ride horrible. I put my bags on my 2 link bars and it ride very comortably. Looks good
