rear spring?????
will 1/2t rear leaf springs work on a 1ton rear? I am going to lower my dually and want a smoother ride, but dont want to go airbags. I am sure they are 56"(havent measured though) and I think the 1/2t 'burbs are also 56" So, if anyone knows, then any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: rear spring?????
1/2 ton springs are shorter in over all length. Whats different is where the rear hanger mounts. 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton frame have both holes already, so it's just a matter of grinding out the rivets and bolting the hangers in the correct position.
I'm not sure a 1 ton truck would have the 1/2 ton holes though. If it's doesn't, it's probably easier to get some 3/4 springs and take a leaf or two out to soften them up. I feel the 3/4 ton springs have superior ride quality when softened up because they are longer. Speaking of Suburbans, I have no idea what spring lengths they ran, whether it was the 1/2 ton length or the 3/4 and 1 ton length. |
