front suspension for street strip

ok so im building a street strip truck. i have 4 link with coilover setup for the rear already and a narrowed 9" rear to run my 29x18x20 sportsman s/r radials on the street. i just dont know what to do with the front suspension. something that handles well and does well at the track. i would like quite a bit of drop too...any sugestions.....its an 86 swb by the way

Well, to begin with, 4-links aren't known for handling. They have a tendency to bind under one wheel bump. But let's get passes that..

Depending on front weight, I would recomend a spring like the ones I am running but with a big fat sway bar (Dually sway bar)

Moroso Sring 47140
240lb rate
17 3/8" long

At the track, you could diconnect the sway bar and use the spring the way they were intended. The sway bar will help to negate body roll and you can find them at your local junk yard for cheap.

What's your budget? If you have the cash go with a Fatman front end with adjustable coilovers.

i dont really have a budget i guess i just want to do everything right the first time. i wanted to do coilovers from the get go, but i didnt think they made a kit for that truck...what kind of strett manners does it have?

am i going to have a problem with my 4 link on the street

You should be abble to get a weld in kit of some sort to fit that truck, there's a few mfg. that make it. I have/had a street 4-link in my truck and never ran into any problems with it, mine had alot better movement and ride then my stock setup. I'm going to a full race setup now mainly for strength and the fact that it now sees about 95% track 5% street. At the time it was 50/50 so I went with a street setup.

well i have a comp engenering 4 link for the rear, but i have not got the coilovers yet, i will be about 50/50 street strip.. i think i can set it up to do both somewhat decent and maybe adjust a little at the track.

what kind of coilovers do you reccomend for front and rear

Re: front suspension for street strip

I went with QA1 single adjustables, I bought the kit with all the parts needed for installation, you can even get them with progressive springs for the street, or even double adjustable shocks.

On the front have tubular arms, drop spindles with a factory springs, then for shocks QA1 drag race adjustables, but once again 95% track for my truck.

Haven't ran this front setup at the track or street yet, have all the parts collected waiting istallation. The rear going to the Comp setup from a poly rod end setup, and from a shorter non adjustable coilover shock to the QA1 longer adjustable shocks.

Re: front suspension for street strip

yeah i was thinking qa1 shocks as well i will prolly just get the whole rear qa1 kit with the crss member and everything. i will be running poly rod ends as well. i guess i will do some searching around for the front suspension. i would really like an adjustable coilover street strip set up

I like this set up

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=212001

I have not seen a good shot of how the steering column passes the chassis.
That is my critical point as I run a big block on L6 mounts.

Neil.

that is really cool, i would love to run that.

i really just want to use my stock front end and get some tubular a arms and qa1 coilovers and somehow drop it 4-5" or so
