Questions about a 58' Apache

My buddy is looking at a 58' Apache and asked me a few questions about disc brake kits and 5 lug axles for the rear. I'm not very familiar with these years. Where should he get a disc kit and what vehicle can he get the rear 5 lug axles from?. Last question is who sells a patch panel to hide/remove the spare tire indentation?. Thanks!:chevy:

I've put a 1999 S-10 4x4 4 dr axle works good.
Already had discs on it.
Rear fender is best to buy new rather than try to patch.
we like pictures.

Thanks Brian, right now he's trying to see if it's worth getting. You are probably right about the fender. Any other options on rear axles for 5 lug? What about front disc kit?.

Re: Questions about a 58' Apache

if that truck is a short wheel base, i would love to have that rear fender and the brackets to mount the spare tire on the side! i would trade my fender for those if what he has is in good shape. OR, i just happen to have the brackets and parts to switch to front disc brakes and also add power steering, if he might be interested. i just put trans am clip under mine so i dont need those parts.
can give me an email to hotrodsbyray@yahoo.com if he would like to do any swapping - same goes for any body else that has a good spare tire fender and brackets for a short step side. also have good original front axle with springs and brackets if that would sweeten the deal or if anybody needs them.

Re: Questions about a 58' Apache

I purchased the conversion bracket kit from CPP on this link http://www.classicperform.com/4754chevtrk.html 4759DBK5 5-Lug on 4-3/4" Bolt Pattern Disc Brake Bracket, kit. Cost around $105 shipped, and use rotors and calipers off one of my 74 El Camino parts cars, they bolted right up to it. I did put new bearings and seals in the rotors....

Re: Questions about a 58' Apache

There was an article in Classic Trucks a few months back where they were using the 10-bolt posi rear out of an 81 Trans Am. Supposedly it was the same width as stock but with discs.

Re: Questions about a 58' Apache

it should be.

i am using a 77 nova 8.5" 10 bolt rear with 12" discs from a 98-02 f-body. the brakes bolt right up, just switch the brackets side to side (put the right on the left, and left on the right) and only cost $200 on ebay.
