door mirrors for my 4x4
I have been working on my cab & doors. I have doors from 2 different trucks. One truck had tripod mirrors and the other had the standard 3 screw/arm with a round head style. All of the mirrors I have need replacing.
If I stick with the tripods (kind of leaning that way) where is the best place to get good quality ones? What do most of you guys run- tripods or smaller standard mirrors? |
Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
At the moment, I got smaller ones, but I have west coast Jr's waiting to be repainted & installed!!

Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
I use the large style as you can see in this pic.

Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
NICE!!
did you have the smallest tripods or the larger one that is kind of in between what you have now and the small ones? also where did you get them? |

Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
It got these at a local shop called Trucks & Stuff that mainly sales truck accessories. I think the ran me about $100.
Here's a pic of the style I used to have that were totally worthless! http://yukon.b0xen.us/69chevy/front36flipped.jpg My Blazer has even a dinker set, at least support wise. They kinda suck on the road too. http://yukon.b0xen.us/70blazer/motor...edsideshot.jpg |

do you want stock, want them for pure looks (sport mirrors), or actually to use for mirrors (west coast jr's or tripod)

Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
I am leaning towards tripods because I use my mirrors all the time and I kind of like the way they look. I need to make a decision because I am working on my cab & doors and I am almost to the point of primer. I need to fix holes in the doors before I prime.

Re: door mirrors for my 4x4

Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
thanks for all the input so far guys, I appreciate it.
my decision is now clear as mud though  |
Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
I personally prefer the FORD triangle mount mirrors (late 70's) with the extenders on them for pulling a trailer ----some states require mirror extenders when towing.--The other nice feature is that they fold close up to the door when you need them to ---nice. also they are aluminum so no rust issues.
Sometimes FORD does have a better idea (think 55,6,7 Tbird!!) |
Re: door mirrors for my 4x4
My short tripods don't shake for some reason. Yea.. The passenger side is broken, so I just picked up a pair of oversize military type heads that I'm going to put on. 50% bigger viewing area than 5x7s. They are the black ones on top and right. The others are to show size difference. Anything for more wind resistance... lol.
