Question about what Vintage Air system i need

Im about to get back to work on the truck and was looking tonight at the vintage air system i need. I'm going with a GenII kit, but am curious as to what i need, defrost/heat/cool or just heat/cool seeing as the truck only has 3 real vents (2 side on dash and the 2 small defrost run out of a Y) So im wondering if i dont need the defrost setup? thanks, looking forward to getting back to work, im shooting to have all the panels on, and the suspension done by june 1st:ito:

I will be buying a kit in the near future so I'll be watching this.

So is the truck still down here? Also are you keeping it or still selling it?

I installed the seats I bought from you they are in my build thread.

I'm not sure what you're asking? Are you "putting something together" or looking to buy a complete kit?

Complete kit: 67-72 Sure Fit that works with the FACTORY A/C controller. If you don't have one, get one ;) You have very little control over the temp with the "heater" controller unit.

Check my sig for more info.

You want defrost, but Vintage will fog windows up in morning. Is your truck is factory ac or not? Is that out of the question?

I have a few questions. Do they have a non vac. operated system? Do you have to remove the side vents? Also there are installs that I have seen where you don't see the heater control valve is there a way to hide it or is it a different system?

Mine is cable operated.

Yes/no. You have to remove the PS one. It doesn't REALLY need to be removed, but the heat/air unit covers it completely and will never be able to be opened again and I think because of "room" you would have to remove the operating handle for it anyway.

I have no idea  It's got to go somewhere, right?

not a factory truck, and am using the GenII electric unit, not the surefit, the difference in systems is the setup w/defrost has 5 total vents on v/a unit, 2 small vents for defrost, however since the truck only untilizes 3 vents total w/defrost is that somthing i need?

Re: Question about what Vintage Air system i need

I would probably guess you want all five vents. My factory ac truck uses six vents. three for ac, one for heat and two for defrost.

I'm thinking 2 by the window (defrost), 3 facing forward (a/c), and 2 facing the floor (heat).

Is there a big difference in cost between the 2 (the sure fit and the one you are going with)?
