Re: This is what happens when you get bored.
Somebody gave the trans am scoop to me a long time ago & its just been sitting up on a shelf. I was going to do this to the 89 fullsize truck I had but never got around to it. Id rather have a cowl hood on the s10 but I dont have any friends that will just bring one over & say here you go. I made a cardboard pattern, laid it out on the hood & cut it with a jig saw. I trimmed the frame work inside of the hood to make everything smooth & mounted the scoop to the hood with brackets. I still need to get some door edge trim for the hole & figure out what to use for a seal. Its just laying on the motor in the pics but Ive got most of the brackets done now. Im hoping to get the truck painted this summer, so the stripe is just spray bomb for right now...

I used to have a 77 Datsun King Cab I did the same thing with. I glued it to the bottom of the hood with the offset flange and had the same gap around as you do. I looked good IMO.

Cool! It's been awhile since I've seen a shaker scoop.
It actually flows with the lines of the hood quite well. I like it. |

Thats pretty cool. I used to have a couple of those laying around ,but got rid of them when I sold my 70 firebird. I wish I had kept one now lol. If you have the pan, you should think about adapting it to the engine and making it functional. It would be easy with a 4.3 just make an adapter to work with the throttle body.

that kind of reminds me of a baldwin motion style camaro hood, with the stripes like that
