Panel Trucks - Please post pics

I recently picked up a 67 GMC panel. 1/2 ton, 327 sbc, 4 speed, missing right leaf spring, driveshaft torched out, needs windshield, lots of patina! Not much rust (need better inspection), bottom right quarter panel needs some work, lame RV style vent cut into the roof, for the most part a very solid truck with not a lot missing.

Will post pics later today. Have to get the title straightened out before I do anything with it. Not sure of what way to go with it, probably just stock. Need to get it running first.

Maybe start a vote thread with back to stock, slammed or ????

I'm hoping for lots of pics and I'll see what kind of inspiration hits me.

? Are all 67-72 leaf springs the same length? Blazer, Burb, 1/2 & 3/4 ton.

I would think so but not sure.

Hey Long Roof, that white one looks familiar :metal:

Here's a couple better pictures:

IIRC, that black one was kind of a barn find with crazy low miles and a crazy high price on ebay.

Thank's guys for all the pics. I have some time to decide what to do with it. At this point I think take it back to stock as much as possible with a few mechanical upgrades, brakes, steering & an aftermarket underdash a/c system.

Whatchya planning to use it for? Cruising? Work? Camping? Tow Vehicle? Autocross?

PETEM1957 04-09-2008 03:22 AM

Re: Panel Trucks - Please post pics

Long Roof, probably just cruising and as a back-up vehicle. You know run to the home center, chase parts just drive it for the fun of just driving it. Something a little different and looking for people's reactions when they see an old timer out running around. No show paint, no slam job just a cool old ride. I would like to find some lower trim for it (even rough driver quality) but I'm sure that would be too hard to find for a decent $ but I can dream can't I?

That is one fine '69, '69! And looks like it's being used for a noble cause, to boot!

Pete, you've got a great place to start. Remember that you won't really find Panel specific stuff, you gotta go with 'Burb stuff, like trim and all that.

I do love the panels!

Here is a 68 3/4 4x4 ambulance that was still in use until it ran into a pine tree! this was taken a while back so they might have fixed it by now or maybe even retired it.
