swapping the 4spd for a turbo 400
 
hey i was wondering what a project it would be to pull out the 4pd and install a turbo 400 in my 76 4x4 gmc stepside. I have a 350 with the NP205 transfer case.

just got a complete 76 Chevy C20 2wd camper special with the 454 turbo 400 in it free

thanks guys anyone need parts

Don't forget that the kickdown is electric so you will need to swap that out or buy a Lockar kit.

You'd have to modify that TH400 a fair bit to get it into your truck. The number one problem is that it is 2wd, and you'd need to change the output shaft to convert it, which will involve a total disassembly of the transmission...

Yep, plus the 400 is longer so you will need to move the crossmember, modify driveshafts, and find an adaptor to bolt the 205 to the 400. I think I am right about that at least.
