Advise for Correct Restoration
 

I have a 64, c-10 that I'm doing a frame off restoration on. Here my questions, My vin tag on the kick panel is rusted and all stamped writing is missing from it, what are my options to get a new vin tag? Also I've been informed that the factory v-8's came painted that green color, does anyone know a color code, or is the eastwood engine paint right? Also were can i find the paint code for my truck? It's currently white with the red stripe but under the front sheet metal and cab, you can see the green that came on these trucks. I'm just working to do this as accurate as possible. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

On my 1964, the "vin" is on the B pillar.

Welcome to the board and since no one else decided to give you a hand, I can a little bit. You can get a reproduction vin tag made. I'm not sure where I have seen it, if I come across it, I'll send it your way. You'll have to search for the vin reproduction tag. If your truck still has it, on mine it is behind the glove box door; The sticker that tells you what your truck came equipped with. The color code should be there for the truck. As for the engines, I don't know, mine was painted the normal chevy orange.

One of the usual parts suppliers offers engine paint in the correct color. I don't remember which one, though. Brothers, maybe??

I don't believe the kick panel label is the true VIN tag. Look in the door jamb at the top of the driver's side door.

I believe knee knockers had them on the A pillar.
1964 had them on the B pillar, and 65-66 had them on the top sill.

The kick panel had the GVW rating.
Trim package, such as RPO Z62AA.
Paint code and wheel base.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'll do some digging on my cab. So I didn't happen to notice a clear answer for the engine color was green the stock color for the v-8s? Also the exterior color is that green color, can anyone offer correct interior colors, like what the stock carpet color would be, sheetmetal, seat, and what not?

Interiors were almost always something called "fawn metalic", I believe. The major truck suppliers (Classic Parts Am., Brothers, etc.) all have it available. As I recall, dash top on the 66s was a darker shade. Never seen one with stock carpet... mostly black rubber as I recall.:smoke:

I had a 65 with a 283 at one time. Got it from the original owners son. It still had the original date code plug wires on it. From what I remember under all the oil and dirt it was a green looking color .I know thats correct but dont know the paint code. I just looked at the pics but cant really tell the color, to try and match it.
