"Have a nice day, Sir!"

Tried someone else's junkyard recommendation today. Lots of trucks. Found two manual choke cables so I grabbed the easy one. It is not stock but will work for now and I can go back for the stock cable later. Went to the counter and the guy said..."Have a nice day, Sir!" NO CHARGE...I could not believe it! I will drive an hour to go back here to buy parts from now on!

Wow Tell me where that junkyard is!!!! Might be worth the three hours to get out there and buy parts

Airport Auto Wrecking on Hwy 3 just east of Bremerton, WA. Can't miss it. Thanks to mikep for posting about it earlier.

Must be nice. All the yards here completely suck. They think they have gold. Once(8 years ago) I needed a front axle, gears and housing for my aunts 4x4 truck. For the complete unit they wanted $500 plus exchange of the old one. I call down to a yard that is in another town(220 miles away). They will sell the same thing for $300 plus they will go through it to make sure it is ok and they give a guarantee, plus no exchange, plus they will ship it for free.

I got a yard liek that here..he'll look at the stupid little stuff, and say see you later.
But you gotta hate it when they call you sir though....I can't stand it.

Ain't that great? I've actually got the guys at NAPA telling me that for the piddly stuff (like nuts & bolts, etc.). Of course when they see you every day for a month it helps. :D

I had that happen at a yard here in phoenix, Don Hoctors Auto Wrecking. I needed a couple pieces of interior windlace for a chevelle I was building. Took them to the counter and he said, "Wow, most people just pocket that kind of stuff. No charge man, have a good one." I was as impressed as he was. I go there when ever I can.
Later,

Ya there is a couple good yards around here that have great prices but they are picked over pretty well! You need to visit them all on a regular basis or your gonna miss the good stuff! In the past couple vivits to the closest one to me I have picked up a 73 and up console $20 threw in a high hump for $0, 72 blazer buckets for $20 threw in 2 delete plates for the radio $0, and a late 70's/early 80's tilt for $25! i hope this continues! There is still posi rears on that 72 blazer I think he said $100 a piece! Oh and their is a yard in welsboro pa called robinsons that has a long step 69/70 chevy for $600 says it has a 327 in it and its 4X4? I need to go back there and see his yard supposed to be 4 trucks there!

I'll have to hit that yard. The in-laws live about 20 minutes from there...
