Bought my truck back

I sold this in Jan 06 and really wish I had it back . I talked to the owner and he had decided to sell . It has weathered a little in the Texas sun for two years , and I probably paid too much , but I like the idea of 43,800 original miles , original paint and interior , etc and the fact that it was mine previously . I wasnt looking for another , in fact , I had to promise not to buy another one for several years . My wife understood why I wanted it back . I was also glad to see the original windshield still perfect . It has the original inspection sticker dated May 23 , 1978 . May 23 was my little sisters birthday so I remember the date on the windshield . There have been a couple changes and some I dont mind , some I can live with . I will be putting Rallys with 275/60 rear and 255/60 front BFG's on it this week . I may eventually do something like on my tan truck since it isnt totally original anymore . Here it is as it came home . The pic was in late , late afternoon so it isnt the best . I will be taking better pics soon after I clean it up a little . Also one inside the garage just because . Just for comparison , here it is a couple years back in the same spot in the yard . I have done some clearing since . I like the rallys on it so that is what will be on it for a little while . Frank

I would roll those aftermarket wheels on my bucket. ;)

Looks like he did the wheels, changed the exhaust and ???

wow Frank, really nice truck. I agree, the rallys are the way to go for sure. It's rare that you get a chance to buy a truck back that you used to own, esp a classic.

He sprayeda bedliner in it , installed an aftermarket CD player , Flowmasters and duals , speakers in the doors but they are small round speakers , wheels and 2 inch shackles . He also said that while tuning it up , one ofthe spark plugs broke flush with the head so he pulled the heads and had them reworked while off . It is OK since he didnt change cams or anything and it runs great . I would have preferred it be totally stock but since it totally factory any more , I may look at lowering it and adding some wheels like on the tan truck here . I have even thought about some 15x8 inch polished Slots for an older look .Frank

You know that truck was supposed to be mine ...dont you Frank ..haha . I think you should take the stuff you just put on the tan one off , then put it on the Black one . then sell me the tan one

Re: Bought my truck back

Frank, awesome truck and great story... nothing like a black on red square body! That thing looks great. It's a shame the new owner did those things to the truck, some of that stuff sounds kind of unfortunate (speaker holes, and especially the spray-in bedliner). If you lower it that'll be awesome, though.

My truck is getting worked on right now, but I'd love to drive it out to your place and park it in your yard next to your awesome collection. I'll even bring the photography equipment ;)

And of course, if I see your tan one, I'm almost going to have to copy that stance... ugh. You did that with no C-Notch, right?

I'll be in Texas from June 1st through June 30th, and then I'm gone for a year plus!

Hey Frank. Great lookin truck. You've got a very understanding wife, that's for sure! You had an idea about putting polished slots on it......Here is a teaser for you. These are 8 lug, 16.5 x 8 and love them. Slots get my vote. Take care. David http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...vytruck002.jpg

Wow, you've got some nice trucks there. It's ashame about the spray on bedliner. Is there any *easy* way to remove that stuff? IMO, spray on bedliners are just not worth it.

Re: Bought my truck back

Hey david , those look a lot nicer than the 16.5's I sold you . I like the slots and if I come across a set here locally , I might give them a try . As far as the liner goes , I am sure it could be removed at a pretty good cost ,then repainted . It still wouldnt be the original paint in the bed so I am just going to leave it . That was the one single thing that I cant return to stock too easy . Frank
