Stepside under-bed fuel tank filler ideas please!
Hey all,
I really need to dig up my old pics and start a build thread. There's a bunch of junk in my in-cab tank, so I said forget it, and bought and under-bed poly tank setup from Wes. I need ideas on fuel filler arrangement. My bed wood (sheet of plywood  )is shot, so I've been contemplating a sheet of mild steel or diamond plate. Regardless of the type of floor I use, what have you guys done for a fuel filler? I've been thinking about a boat type filler, but would love to see some ideas. Thanks for anything. |

Probably the easiest would be behind the side marker light. Check out the FAQ thread. Jorgensenc did an excellent write up.

Bill, you are the man! I may do the boat filler in the bed for now, but I think I'm sold on the side marker setup in the long run. I've been dealing with what I think is fuel starvation in the higher RPM range, and I'm hoping the new tank and lines that I run help that out. I guess we'll find out soon! :-D

I may try a stainless marine deck filler above the step facing the cab against the bedside on the front of the fender. Its in a descreet location and all you have to do is drill a hole in the fender mount the filler and cap and run the plumbing to the tank. Besides I have already painted the truck. Otherwise the best idea to me is the marker light.

I'm going with the stainless steel marine filler unit and mount it in the floor. Do a search on ebay, you can find them for dirt cheap there. And i mean CHEAP!
You may also want to check around on the checker plate steel or aluminum ... ANY & ALL metal is outta sight right now on price (thanks China). I would be willing to bet you could replace the floor with pine and buy new steel strips & bolts for less than what the steel would cost ... and would look tons cooler. just my .02 cents worth ... p.s. dang good to see you around bro ... haven't talked to you in AGES! |
