rewiring whole truck

my 72 the wiring is butchered beyond repair.should i go with the painless 18 circuit kit or a original repo kit. thats twice as much money.not a electric expert just want it done right.whats the pros/cons of both kits.its been on fire twice already in different places thanks for any help.:( :( :( :(

I put the Painless kit that is made for 67-72 pickups and I really like it. i think it is better than the orginal unless of course you are building a orginal show truck. I got mine from Yogis Streetrod parts.

I second Tim's vote....

I bought new dash, engine, front light harness and rear tail light harnesses before I found out about the Painless Kits. If I had it to do over, I would go with the Painless Kit. I helped a freind wire a 1935 Ford Sedan -2 door, with a kit from Painless and it was super easy - easy instructions and plenty of documentation.

I have a 67-72 Painless harness on my truck. It has good and bad parts. Good is it has plenty of extra circuts. Bad is all of the tail lights, head lights, all motor wiring has to be cut and ends put on yourself. Some of the instructions are a bit shady, tech line isn't the best in the world, but you should be ok. I would purchase mine again.

Another vote for the painless.

If you truck has A/C though, you'll need to buy the extra A/C kit too (I didn't, but made it work for now)

There are a lot of extra circuits. I'm not using all of them right now, so I have them rolled up, ready for the day I get to those upgrades :D
