U-Joint Brand

Hi guys, My 78 C20 needs U-joints and I'm going to replace all three of them. I'm wondering what brand of u-joints you recommend. I have no special requirements for them other than towing a 8k trailer occasionally and i want the longest lasting one I can find, but don't know much about which brand is which. Or will whatever heavy duty u-joints the parts store has be fine?

Thanks Guys,
Kenny

I have heard that the non greaseable ones are the strongest. IIRC it had to do with the internal grease passages making them weaker. I prefer the greasable ones tho as my blazer is constantly in and out of water. Just gotta remember to give it a good greasing after every trip to the river.

Thats funny, I just did mine last Friday with Neapco. Heavy Duty. Greaseable Joints. The old ones where non-grease. But I did for sure burn one up at the rearend. Fell right apart as I pulled the driveline.

The DANA/SPICER line is good as well as the PRECISSION line that NAPA AUTO PARTS carries. The PRECISSION line is availible in 2 stages regular and heavy duty usage. The heavy duty ones are not only greasable but also have the grease zerk on the end cap instead of the center of the joint.

SPICER!!! My lead foot destroyed cheaper junk. The Spicers are holding up very nice.

spicers....they are a solid joint... You prolly wouldn't have a problem with the greasable ones because it doesn't sound like they will be under alot of stress. But I slung a driveshaft out of my grand national doing a launch one day and it screwed alot of stuff up.. broke the tail shaft off the trans...etc...
