Re: Is new panhard bar needed ?
I might be wrong, but I believe your rear end will be out of alignment with out it. I'm planning on running a 4.5/6 ECE drop kit with their super track bar. I'll let some other chime in on this.

Re: Is new panhard bar needed ?
If you have any fab skills, its not hard to mod your stock pan hard bar
& for a 4" drop up front, its not much different to just cut one round off your coils with a cut off wheel & get about 3" drop (some do more that a round, but I dont know what problems you might run into) Then in the back just take a torch & heat the springs up & measure as you go, so you get them level side to side & the amount of drop desired Then take your pan hard bar loose & center it on your frame, then cut it in half & get a piece of pipe that fits over it (basically as tight as possible) then measure how long it needs to be with your axle centered & weld it up Boom, free drop :metal: |

For the rear, if you have the coil suspension hit your local steel yard for some 2" square .250 wall tubing & make your own lowering blocks..... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=196457. Cut the tubing to length, drill the holes, & then pick up some 2" longer u-bolts (local spring shop or board vendor for about $40). Add some 4" drop springs & get an adjustable panhard bar or shorten the stocker. You can modify the stock shock brackets to function just like the aftermarket $80 relocator kits or splurge on some 'drop' shocks. If you have leaf springs, do a flip kit & you're done...... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=223158 . Pay close attention around pg.13/post #309. |
