Re: vent window assemblies
Not sure about price b/c I really didn't check around a whole lot. I just ordered one a month ago from LMC for my 87. Mine was rusted out too. When the part arrived I was surprised to see it was a genuine GM part! :metal: So, if you want OE then I'd order it...

Re: vent window assemblies
how hard was it to assemble and was shipping high
|
Re: vent window assemblies
It was fully assembled. Just bolt (screw) it in, and run your window channel felt to the side of it that faces your window (the only piece that doesn't come on it). Shipping was free, I spent $1100 on that order. Vent assy, Highliner, floor boards, bed mat, carpet, and the list goes on. I spent my economic stimulus before I ever got it!

Re: vent window assemblies
I just threw one out that had busted glass a week ago. Otherwise it was in good shape. Too bad I didn't know you needed it since we live in the same city. :(

I have bought several at Pick N Pull over the years. The ones out of 73-80 or whatever the cutoff is for the older front end style trucks fit also, but have one less screw holding them in. I usually look for late model suburbans, like a '91 or so. They usually have had an easier life, and are the newest, so they tend to be in better condition. Happy hunting, Slonaker |
Re: vent window assemblies
Anybody know what the cutoff year is for these? I have a '73 and would like to get some better ones. What is the last year that they were made that would fit my '73?

Re: vent window assemblies
AFAIK, the assemblies for pickups through '87 and Blazers/Suburbans through '91 will fit. As I said in the message above, the 70s and 80s models are held in by different numbers of screws. The 70s models don't have one near the upper pivot point for the glass, and the 80's models do IIRC.
I have one from a 70s model in my '86, and there just isn't a place for a screw above the upper pivot. It works fine, though. Hopefully someone else with some experience with this will chime in. I did the replacement about 5 years ago, and my memory ain't what it used to be... :) Slonaker |

Re: vent window assemblies
I just pulled 4 vent windows at the pick-n-pull a couple weekends ago. Not for the windows though, I was after the sport mirrors and that was the easiest way to get the inner braces. I am surprised you can't find any good used ones in SA. Maybe you need to take a road trip over here to Houston.
Oh yeah, there is a swap meet at the horse track this comming weekend I think. Hmm, I need to go find that thread... |
Re: vent window assemblies
FWIW, you can get these from GM cheaper and don't have to pay shipping. I can get them from GM and sell them for $175.

Re: vent window assemblies
Capt, maybe that's what they're doing too. Mine was a GM part when I got it.

its not that i cant find ant it just the ones i do find they want like 90 dollars for each and they are far from perfect condition |
Re: vent window assemblies
Link to what? The part? If that is what you are wanting, I don't keep them in stock, so they aren't listed. I can get them from GM in about 10 business days or less...
