steering coulmn ??
On my 84, if i have my steering coulmn tilted up the truck wont even turn over, is this a safety thing or is it maybe pinching a wire? It starts perfectly tilted down. Also sometimes my carb idles to high sometimes it dont. What would be a good additive to run through it to maybe clean it out?

Re: steering coulmn ??
Ignition switch needs to be adjusted under the dash. It's mounted to the topside of the column under the dash with an activator rod running from it up to the ignition lock cylinder. The only wires that run up to the top of the column are for the horn & turn signal/hazard switch as well as for the cruise control.

Yeah, my uncles truck does the same thing. It starts fine as long as there's no tilt in the column. It has to be straight to start. I just haven't adjusted it yet because he doesn't drive it much.

Re: steering coulmn ??
I agree on the adjustment of the ignition switch, but I have had the rocker assembly from the ignition switch to the rod break and cause that whole scenario to happen and no recovery from it. It is worth a check on the potmetal piece that is inside the column.
