Oil Pressure Switch leaking

Any of you guys/gals ever had your oil pressure switch spew oil all over your exhaust. Mine went out last Saturday on a 4wd trip up to the hunting cabin. It used 6 quarts of oil to go the 12 miles and looked like a crop duster to top it off.

Man, I wouldn't think you could lose that much from a oil pressure switch leak!!

I thought mine was leaking. I replaced it, still got the leak. I know I'm spewing more and more oil every day though. Makes me sick to think I can't find this stinking leak. I'm going to start replacing every seal and gasket pretty soon.

I noticed the leak on Thursday night when I was adjusting the choke and I thought it was leaking down from the valve cover gasket. So I replaced that on Friday night. Got up early Saturday drove about 30 miles and stopped for adult beverages. When I parked the smoke poured out from under the hood. I checked the oil and it was still full. I decided to continue on and proceeded 8 miles to the base of the mountain for the 12 mile trip in 4wd up to the cabin. The trail takes about an hour and a half. At the halfway point I needed 3 quarts of oil. About 10 minutes later I guy flagged me down and said he saw a 3 foot flame under my truck. There was so much oil on the exhaust it combusted. From there on, I hit every mud hole I could find. Manufactured a plug at the top and made it back down without incident.

So, did the switch just crack?

I'm only losing about a quart every week, so not nearly as bad as that. I'm leaning towards a intake manifold leak along the rear ridge on mine.

No visible sign of a crack. I appeared to be coming out of the electrical plugs. I'd say it was putting out about an ounce or so a minute.
Good luck with your leak.

I've heard of people spraying there cold engines with antiperspirant or foot spray and watching for the oil to stain the powder, but I've never tried it.
