Making it More Homey!

Took the new girl apart today and installed a new stereo and some speakers. It sounds soooooo much better than the dry rotted factory speakers and the factory system.

Head unit is a Kenwood that does MP3s recorded on DC and has the input jack to hook up a regular MP3/aux device if I ever buy one. Put some Polk Audio 6.5" speakers in to replace the stock door speakers. I also got some Kicker 4x6s for the rear speakers.

I also cleaned up the bed edges where the racks and tool boxes were. Covered some stuff in Eastwood so it won't rust and add some bed caps to hide the imperfections until I repaint it some day. I also cleaned up a bunch of smudges and I am not sure what. I thought it was scratches, but it rubbed out, so I am not sure what it was now. Anyhow, she is a little less rough looking now.

Now I can cruise to the board meet with some decent sounds. I sure was getting tired of listening thru only one speaker.

Weird... your radio looks way different than mine (the stocker)

I HATE crappy sound systems. Mine needs an upgrade :D

Yep, mine was about as low as you can go on the stereo side of things, AM/FM only.

Bill, wasn't your truck a work truck? Maybe that's the reason for the cheapy radio... Love the new stereo, I bet that thing sound great!

Yep, dat is why it were cheap.;) it is a Work Truck. This one isn't super high end and I don't like to go with real high end components any more in my drivers. I have lost to many over the years. Besides that, with the exhaust I run, it is going to hose up the sound some anyways. But she is WAY better sounding than what was in there.

Hey, not to highjack the thread, but what ever happened to all the vehicles that got flooded during your two big hurricanes? Do they junk them or try to resell them, or ship them out of the area and hope people don't know? Is that something you have to watch out for down there?

First time I've seen that OEM radio setup

Could have been any of the above. Two friends bought flood vehicles to rebuild (55 & 57 Belair). Many others were scrapped, others got sent to auction. I would imagine quite a few ended up in other states, and have no reference to they were here under water.
