Re: another 4x4

mike, the guys loan is suppose to go thru on tues next week, so if all that goes alright the red one is history,so its back to the drawing board on this truck, this black truck has a good body so im cleaning up underneath it now and fixing the power steering and a few odds and ends, and see where it goes from there, did you ever send that pic of the front fender cup? belive dad will buy that from ya, weird someone cut both his fenders on a 2wd and someone cut both of mine also,

Re: another 4x4

I need to blast my fender now before I sell that cup, might be needed.

I didn't know your truck was for sale... nice rig though.

Re: another 4x4

If it turns out you need a cup, I have two I've saved and yes skid plates were a factory option.

Re: another 4x4

mine had a small factory skid plate on the crossmember... it's only about 10" x 10"....
guess he gave you a price that you couldn't refuse huh!

From what I`ve seen the skid plates were only offered on Blazers from the factory. If someone knows for sure I`m all ears.

I think you're right Tim..Although in the Rockwell years I've seen small ones under the carrier bearings on the longbeds, like mine.
I liked the red one,but this one should look as good.Is it an original shortbed?

Re: another 4x4

thanks for the pics ill let dad take a look at em and will let ya know vt, how much?he will only need the pass side thou, yea dustin factory shortbed but it was a 6 cly 3 speed truck, someone switched to 350 auto, had to order a power steerin press hose today, had a whole it in, drained all fluids tonight, is there any advantage of using atf in the trasfer case? i bought gear just wondering what i should put back in it?

I put gear oil in a 205.That`s what they were meant to have when designed.About the only problem you see with those t-cases is leaks. Why encourage it with thinner oil?

Will you hurry up and get that all done, painted, and sold?I can`t wait to see the next one....yawn.........

Re: another 4x4

Yeah,my thinking, too.I hated to sell the blue truck cuz that was my truck to use.I used the GMC,but carefully.I`ll go as long as I can before restoring.
The skid plate would bolt right up to any K-model like it belonged.I don`t know why it would be Blazer-only other than if it was a package with the fuel tank skid-plate.But,Suburbans had a tank skid-plate option, too.

I assume you got them, then? ROFL

Re: another 4x4

uhh yea grendel, that is right pricy huh lol. have any of yall seen aftermarket fenders rust along the top where they start to roll down, recently a couple trucks i looked at for sale was like that, wondering if it was from the salt , guess it would help to undercoat the inside ? i ask a vendor from down south and he had never heard of that problem.well all fluids changed , power stering hose was busted, changed that out, next will be brakes, took the silly back glass shades off, someone screwd the right into the aluminum sliding window frame:ito:, and took off the 10 ft c.b antenna, :smoke:

guess the reason for cutting these fenders was there running 35x12.50 with a 4 inch lift.
