There's a guy on E-bay that sells a big-window conversion panel, for relatively cheap...check it out.

I had body damage which prompted the conversion. Big dent had bent the interior structure and it could not be pulled. I have never seen the inside of a true big window......just cut mine out and clamped it together. pie cut the corners and spto welded around the wndow frame. Installed window. Tinted glass........

Re: Big window conversion?

That does look sweet. Thanks for all the replies. Somehow I found a big window donor in in a junkyard up here and the guy knows its rare so he's bending me over good for it. I havn't seen it yet but if it's good, I'm gonna lop it out and try to switch out the full interior panel. What burns my arse is one of the parts trucks I used to build mine had a large window and I sent it off to the boneyard years ago. What a dope. If it all works out, I'll post pics of the process in a couple weeks. For right now it's off to Laconia NH for Rain Week, I mean Bike Week.

very nice.
did you buy a big back glass and measure it to make the hole,
or did you have the glass cut to fit the hole?
looks very sweet. do you have finished pics of the inside?

Re: Big window conversion?

I originally bought the big glass and it was too big by a butt hair.....had to get a 2nd one made and fit it in. The lip around the window doing it protrash style must be a little different. Plus the body damage that I was dealing with complicated things.

Im not trying to make a show truck, so it passed muster.;)

I'll be doing this to the six fo soon. I have a donor inner panel from a BBW cab. There is a difference when done this way: the panel sets the window in a bit like the outside does, unlike the cut/weld method. Nothin wrong with that way though. I'd do it if I didn't score the donor panel.

what is the purpose for the pie cut around the corners?

The inner panel has to be pushed back to meet up with the outer lip. The corners have to be cut to allow this to happen. Cutting larger sections out allows you to make patches with a better contour.

Frizzle has it right..........trukn, if you look at the pic from outside the truck you can see the gap you have to close to get the pieces to meet at the window frame.....I remember being suprised at how much I had to relieve to get it to close. It was kinda fun wing-it type deal that my buddy and I did.

You have any interior pics after the glass install. I am curious how the interior cleaned up after the install. Thanks Jeff.
