I've been lurking on this forum for a long time now and I finally got some decent pictures of my project so I thought I would show it off. The first two pics are of what $500 and a six pack will buy you in Portland. The second two represent about six months of work and a few thousand dollars.

I've still got a few more things on my to-do list, but it is getting closer to being finished.

My wife and I bought a house in the early on in the build and the original plan was to get the truck ready for trips to Home Depot and the dump. But somehow (according to my wife) things got a little out of hand.

Probably the two biggest mods are the front disk brakes from a '72 C20
and the 700r4 trans. I've got a new wiring harness from Painless that I am going to install now that the truck is painted and I don't have to worry about all my nice clean wires getting overspray. It was my first time painting a vehicle and I didn't want to test my limited skills.

I just picked up the wheels and tires from a guy on Craigslist the night before for $85. They are stock wheels off a 2003 Dodge Ram 4x4 and they fit great. The 265/75/R17 are a little tight, but I don't have any clearance issues.

How tough was the disk brake swap? I'm about to do the same to my '67 C20.

The disk brake swap was pretty easy, I think I had it started and done within a day.

The place where I bought my donor parts from had just cut the front half of the frame off of a '72 C20 so I had everything from the engine crossmember to the 8-spoke white wheels.

The only problem I ran into was installing the new ball joints. I figured I might as well replace all of the suspension components while I was into it. And one of the lower ball joints turned out to be stubborn.

Oh and make sure that your coil springs are correctly seated before you put everything back together. Once I was done I stood back to admire my work, I noticed that the pass. side of the truck looked a little higher than the driver side. So I got to take the pass side back apart so that I could give the pass. coil spring a good half turn. And then I was done.

Nice transistion, truck looks good.

I see a bike in the background in your garage, what do you have? Just curious, I have a 99 f4 and love it bought it brand new and have done a lot to it and still turn more heads than the new ones it seems :metal:

Nice catch. That is my summer communting vehicle since it gets about 3x the mpg as the Chevy.

It's a 2006 Yamaha FZ-1, I just picked it up in December and due to the weather I've only put about 500 miles on to it. But as the June Gloom ends in Portland I should be able to get a little more seat time.

I have since pulled the blue wheel tape off and added some Givi hard bags.
