Parking Brake?

I can't get my parking brake to latch when the pedal is depressed...the brake itself holds fine if I hold my foot on the pedal, but as soon as I take my foot off the pedal releases. Before ordering the whole pedal assembly, anyone have any other ideas on what else could be wrong?

Have you tried to find a used one in the local boneyard?

Haven't had much luck that route yet, a reproduction one doesn't seem to expensive so was just going to go that route if I need to....
