Antenna cable

Well, I looked everywhere for a antennal cable. No one sold them. Radio Shack don't even sell car stuff anymore. I finally found one at Autozone. Only thing, it's 144" long.

It works like a charm but I had to tie up most of it with a zip tie. What's bad is I only need about a foot of two to reach, not 12 feet. :)

Cup holders are a biotch to find. You can find them for beer/drink can (or soda, pop, or whatever you guys call it) size, but I was wanting some a little bigger. I can't find anything that will work. What I'm after is something in black plastic, in the 3" to 3.25" inside diameter. I'm a diet Mtn. Dew fanatic and this is what it takes for these plastic bottles to fit.

I'm still looking.

Have you thought of PVC pipe Mike??? :)

79BIG10 11-09-2002 03:11 AM

Dave good idea. Might use a PVC cap to catch anything and then maybe have the vinyl your covering it with get all teh wood covered and tucked under then get a PVC pipe cap to fit. This way it will be tight and you can always take it out to clean the "Dew" off the bottom (sorry had to do that!! :D ). Also they're easy to paint to color.

Yep i was gonna say that earlier but never got around to it, i think dave is stealing idea's :D

You could also go look at a junk yard for a ripped-up console that has the bigger drink holders. Maybe you could get one there. Just a thought.

Oh yeah, Radio Shack went out of the Car audio business back in March. Got 2 6x9 speaker boxes for $10 for both. :)

Mike:

A friend of mine put two cup holders in the top of the console on his Bronco a couple of years ago. They drop in from the top through holes he cut. He said he bought them a a boat supply place.

I can buy them all day long at the boat place, but, they will only hold cans. I don't buy canned drinks, only plastic bottles, which won't fit into the can size up holders.

Thanks for the idea. Believe you me, I exhausted all ideas. I 've looked everywhere at everything you can think of. I've got some made but don't like them. It will do until I find something better.

Oh, and I bought another antenna cable at NAPA today, It's 36", way shorter than 144". :)

Slonaker 11-11-2002 11:16 PM

I thought his were big enough to hold a can in a Koozie, which should be big enough for a bottle. I'll try to remember to ask him the next time I see him.

Yeah, I've seen the ones you are talking about. They are what they call stepped. It has a small place at the bottom for the can to set. Then it's real big at the top. Too big. The bottle will just wobble around. I've tried one from my son's bass boat.

These look like they would do the trick, but condensation might be a problem since they are both open at the bottom:

One even said it would hold a 1 liter bottle. I suspect that there are others out there that will suit your needs.

One of those cupholders would be sweet. Even better would be if you had it drain to your 'bilge area' in your truck :D
