Slick 77

Hey guys, this is my 77 short bed that I traded my brother out of a while back
It was originally a big block, tach dash, front & rear sway bars, non trimmed truck
Now has a warmed up 350 with vortec heads, hooker headers, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Edelbrock carb, comp 268 cam, & some other goodies

Short term plans are to swap in a 700R4 trans & drive it
But for the long term I want to do something similar to Dinos 78 (at least stance wise) with a smooth dash like the one below (but black) & some other neat ideas I have for it

Well today I got the trans swapped out, not finished but the hard part is out of the way

Still have to hook up the cooler lines, linkage, & have the drive shaft cut down

Old busted Th350

Re: Slick 77

nice truck

sure wish i could find a swb truck up here... i found 2 in the last few weeks.. 1 is 500.00 it has maybe 2 good body panel on it, no floors left in it, hm i might give 200.00 for it iif it ran...
the second one they want 2500.00 for. now it has a sweet red paint job, but they paint over all the rust.. its not in any better shape than the one for 500.00 other than it has a older set of mag wheels on it and decent tires... time to go back to the junkyard.. they got one, but i been waiting for them to get the title for it for over 4 years now...

Get ready to open the wallet for the drop member... :D If you can get that thing to ride like Dino's, I can't wait to see it!

Great build, can't wait to see where this ends up.

Good luck!

Re: Slick 77

It will prolly get low in stages, but when I do the rear I will make it capable of going as low as I ever want it & if I have to use some blocks temporarily to make it ride even with the font I will

As for the front, Ima use the A-arms off Sinister & buy some 3" drop spindles
Then when I get the money a drop member will go in place

Subscribed. And by the way, what did you have to change to swap in that 700r4? I'm guessing that cause my turbo 350 on my inline 6 is the same bolt pattern, mabye I can swap one into my truck.

Well this is the second 700R4 swap I have done
The truck I pulled the R4 out of, I put a TH350 in its place & had no problems (driveshaft went into place just fine & I may have had to move the cross member a lil)

This truck had a TH350 in it & everything went the same, but I guess this TH350 was a lil shorter than the other as my driveshaft is now too long
And I think I had to move the cross member back just a hair on this one too

Other than just bolting it up, you need to wire up the lock up torque converter & make sure your driveshaft is the right length

Heres a good thread on the 700R4 swap

Re: Slick 77

I'll bet that one could get incredible gas mileage with an overdrive trans and a 250 inline. Thanks for the info.

Re: Slick 77

Ok, progress update :D

I got the 700R4 installed & had my driveshaft cut down to fit (mine had to be 55 3/4" center to center)

Now I have to make or mod a bracket for the TV cable, hook up the shift linkage & wire up the converter :metal:

Should get the shift linkage & maybe the TV cable hooked up tomorrow

Spray-Bomb 07-06-2008 08:11 PM

Re: Slick 77

More progress :metal:

I got the TV cable bracket modded & the cable hooked up... at home researching how to adjust it

Also got the the linkage hooked up, doesnt work right but it works... I need to get all the 700R4 linkage & column for it to work right

Pics coming soon

waiting on those pics,,,,of the modded bracket to

Spray-Bomb 07-07-2008 03:54 AM

Re: Slick 77

I'll get you some pics of the bracket bro

I went & hung out with a friend & raced a guy, I whooped him :D
Then he got pulled over & I got away

So after I hide out for a but I take my friend home & head to my house, well I dont have insurance on my truck till tomorrow & I pass a cop which starts to follow me & like a dumbass I try to loose him because of the no insurance & I figured that the other cop had a report out on me for street racing
Well I turned down a road & turned my lights off BIG MISTAKE & run into a ditch then proceed to plow through a fence, but not just any fence a nice strong fence with rail road ties on the corner

I pretty much screwed my truck up really good, when I plowed into the cross tie it bent my drivers rear wheel, ripped the axle back & made the drive shaft fall which in turn catapulted me up & I landed going the opposite direction

Im tired, & just got home from retrieving my truck, so Ima go to bed & I'll access the damage & take pics tomorrow

Moral of the story DONT FREAK'N RUN FROM THE COPS & DONT TURN OFF YOU LIGHT WHILE STILL MOVING !!!!!!

Dude, to honest it hurt my heart more than anything
I love my truck & it just rips me that I did something stupid & tore it all up
My back hurts a lil from it, but I'll be ok... my truck may take a while to fix

I live in Mineola, its in east Texas about 2 hours east of Dallas towards Shreveport Louisiana
