Re: Remade VIN tags?
I seriously doubt it, how are they going to know it isn't stolen?
You will probably have to have you DMV make up one as long as you can prove its yours (bill of sale, registration, etc.). |
Re: Remade VIN tags?
The "sticker" on the glove box door is known as SPID. It stands for Service Parts IDentification...while it does have the VIN on it, it's only to keep those details specific to that truck.
State laws vary on this issue quite a bit. Some will allow a simple "bill of sale" to declair it legally yours and issue you a new VIN and title. Other states would "freak-out" confiscate the vehilce, make you jump through hoops, maybe even try to prosicute you. Get it legal before you do anything to it.... |
Re: Remade VIN tags?
so how would i go about doing that then?
cant you get custom VIN numbers for vehicles that are made from the ground up if it passes an inspection? |

Re: Remade VIN tags?
There are the VIN-Plates original to each vehicle along with a title.Anything else would require a reconstructed title/VIN-plate or new constructed title/VIN-plate.

Look for a plate looking like one of these in your drivers side door jamb under the latch assembly. The red one would be 67 -69 with 2 plates, the blue one is from a 70 - 72.
