Australian Chev fan
G'day,
Glad I found this site. I am restoring and loving my Chev (definition of loving: sleeping in it and kissing it good night every chance I can, never letting it out of my sight, carrying a photo in my wallet and obsessing about her to the point that my girl friends think I am mad and men refuse to date me because they are sick of running second place to my chev). She is a 1972 K20 Cheyenne. I have put in a '99 6.5L turbot diesel. Apparently there are only 6 in Australia so it isn't so easy to find anyone to compare notes with... lucky I found you kids. This is an addiction which is contagious - my baby bro has just caught it with his first Chev - a 1993 Sierra LWB. I love the fact that it goes anywhere, does everything except U turns and stop in a hurry, it feels like a big comfy car to drive but has the versatility and usefulness of a truck, I can drive by touch and she is indestructible on the road. Anywhos... I am restoring her slowly and I am always after tips and advice. The biggest thing is; I am a visual person and so often I read the description of the part and without seeing it I am not sure if I am buying the right bit. I then fork over cash and sit back for up to 3 months hoping that the U S of A will send me the right bit. I look forward to getting to know you all... Thanx, Lara |

|
Re: Australian Chev fan

Re: Australian Chev fan
We speak English I am sure... not like the slang you guys have... it is a bonnet not a hood isn't it?

Re: Australian Chev fan
For the record we say Chevy too.
I tried to name my Chev... My ute is the ***** Cat and my bike is Delilah... but the Chev is just the Chev... yes it is a Chevy but to me she is "The Chev". We have yet to name the 93 Chevy... Does anyone else name their Chevy? |
Re: Australian Chev fan
yeah read my siggy :D so I have to ask what a ute is

Ha ha ha ha... yes I see now.
A ute is the Aussie pick up truck. We are simple folk and we don't feel the need to have a giant 4WD for everything. Your El Camino is the US equivalent. Check out one of our holdens below: http://www.evolutionendshere.com.au/ Attached are pix of my ***** cat (tailgate and my baby bro jumping over it on his bike) I hope I attached them right - I am still getting used to this... I am soooo old |
Re: Australian Chev fan
right on.. that things pretty cool :D

Re: Australian Chev fan
253ci V8, 4 speed on the floor - no class all balls.
We have had some marvelous adventures together. At the moment I am cleaning her up to give to a mate for his wedding present. I bought the ***** Cat off him years ago and he has suffered withdrawal symptoms ever since. Plus maybe if I give him the ***** Cat I can focus my energy (and wallet) on perfecting my beloved Chev. I am sure there is some Karma coming to me for giving away a car for a wedding present? |
