It's back and slmost ready!
Well my truck is back from my chassis builder and I've been working on it every night after work till 11:00pm for the last week trying to get it done for this weekend. No time for celebration pics just yet maybe tomorrow night, or Thur. before it goes in the trailer I'll snap a few.
Anyway truck is now 100-125lbs. lighter then last time it was there scaled 4003lbs. with 1/4 tank fuel. last time 4128lbs. with about 2/3 of a tank. The front drag springs settled too much though and couldn't get another pair that day so I'm not running the springs I wanted for some wheels up launches :( that only looks cool but eats time anyway. Incase anybodys new or didn't see and or care to read last post I made on the upcoming changes they are as follows. Tubular front upper and lower arms (Fat Man some day but not in the budget this year), dual pistion aluminum calipers and QA1 adjustable front drag shocks, 2" drop spindles and new small block springs. Willwood master cylinder, and Willwood 4 pistion discs in the rear. Narrowed Comp Engineering 9" fab housing, Moser aluminum center section, spool, and 35 spline Moser axles. New Comp Engineering 4-link, notched frame rails and QA1 coilovers with a 31x16.5" tire in the rear now. Pro Systems Nitrous Pro IV 1000cfm carb, fed by a Areomotive A1000 pump and A2000 return reg. system, on the carb side and a Areomotive non-return system reg. for the nitrous side. And a Harwood glass cowl hood to cover it all. And that's about it, a couple of changes and a few new parts. |

Can you tell me where you got the adjustable valve for the rear brakes? I like the looks of it. |

Once I get things sorted out I'll likely go to a 180 shot and hope to see low 10's with that?? |
Re: It's back and slmost ready!
What control arms are those and where did you find the alum calipers?

Re: It's back and slmost ready!
Nice..... can you post up a pic of the rear showing how wide tires are. im looking to fit some bigguns and wanna see if a 32x14.0 will fit on a 12'' wheel with a 8 inch backspacing, from sidewall to sidewall they are 18'' on a 14'' wheel. im hoping going to a 12'' wheel will suck it in some and i can tuck the tire. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Man that is a clean truck . What lower control arm is that ? How much weight difference from the stock one ? You know Harwood test fitted those hoods on my truck . My friend worked there and he even gave me one but I traded it off to the guy who fixed my steel hood for me . Does yours fit good against the fenders? Mine had a huge gap (you could see the flat edge of the fender seam under the hood)

71,
That truck looks GOOD!! The hood really looks good on it. I wish that Harwood made a hood for the '60-'66s, as I would have bought on from them. Have you ran it since you put the Pro-Systems carb on it? I'm kinda curious how much difference you'll see with it. What carb was on it before? The truck really looks good with the lowered stance!! Let us know when you make some passes with it! |

Re: It's back and slmost ready!
Will do.. I'm not sure where to start on the weight reduction first though. So I just bought a game scale that goes up to 550lbs. Since the truck is apart for the most part, I'm going to start weighing things, then divide the weight savings by cost. Figure I'll start with the most cost effective parts..

Re: It's back and slmost ready!
Awesome!
Just a little something to think about, it is not legal (NHRA) to mount a fuel pressure regulator on the firewall. |

I know where your coming from though, when I first ran my old N2O fuel system I had the reg. mounted direct on the firewall and got busted by tech the first time out. That's when I built a extension to move it out 7" and no problem after that (even though it didn't look any safer to me) they were happy so I said that's much better hey, because getting on the bad side of the tech guys is a loosing battle, seen guys do that before LOL! |
