Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

sorry if a repost..

Saw this, hope someone can make good of it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...em220255540192

After 7 pages of thinking how to help, 63 & 64 Bowties graciously made an Ebay auction, and all the proceeds will go to Dawn.

Ebay link here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220275273973

Dawn is located in Tennessee, and several local members are now trying to plan on doing a craigslist part-out-a-thon swapmeet to help her get things sorted out.

Help if you can!

Anyone know how the rust is in Ten. the trucks don't look that bad. I wish they were closer to Calif.

I was told I could scrap them for the money I'm asking, but I would plant flowers in them before I would ever do that.

There's a guy in kodak Tn which is just up the road from her that I'm sure will be all over them. He buys all of these trucks that he can and parts them out.

Good to see her making an effort to save em.

An honest Ebay sale. She hung on,but came to face it`s best they go.It`s gotta be tough to look out there and see them just sit. This will be good for her movin`on therapy.Tennessee isn`t all that bad on rust, either. It ain`t the SW,but it is the south. In other words, they get a good bit of rain...usually.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

I sent her this message Wednesday night:

Dear chvynut44,

Hi, very sorry to hear of your loss. If that's you in the picture, I assume your husband was taken very early. Just a sugestion, I would auction these one at a time. I would like to have a shortbed 67 or 68, and I wouldn't mind having all of them, but I live 266 miles away from you and with a single car trailer and with the price of gas, it's just not practical. I think you're going to get a lot of lookers who feel the same way. Just my 2 cents. I would cancel this auction and start new auctions seperately for each truck if I were you. Good luck, Bill in Virginia

- zippydodog

then last night she responded:

Dear zippydodog,

Hi Bill. Thank you, and yes, I'm afraid my husband was only 46 and suffered a heart attack with no warning or previous heart problems. I actually thought we would be working on these trucks forever you know? Thats why I was glad to actually learn the body work aspect of restoration and was happy to just be a wrench turner for the mechanical side of it without absorbing a whole lot of knowledge so that I could better describe whats going on with each individual truck and sell them seperately. Believe it or not, I have been thinking about doing what you suggest but when I go in the garage and see all the parts and motors, etc. it gets pretty overwhelming because my husband had a plan for every single bolt out there. I just don't know what it was exactly so I guess I'll just see how it goes but again, thank you very much for your suggestion. Dawn

Wonder if there's any way this could be posted in our trucks-for-sale section to help this nice lady out?

I agree. Or maybe some sort of collective effort for her? I don't know, just a suggestion.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

how's this sound?
Dear chvynut44,

Dawn, I belong to a Chevy Truck internet forum. You may want to check it out if ebay doesn't work for you. If you pay a 25 dollar subscriber fee you can list trucks for sale. It has a BUNCH of subscribers and would get you just the exposure you need. it's www.67-72ChevyTrucks.com. Check it out, we're already talking about you on the forums and would like to help you out. I go by "63&64 Bowties" on the site. If nothing else, sign up for the free subscription for now. Hope this helps. Bill

If she responds lets either get the admins to waive her fee or get someone to pay it for her.

I dunno, maybe I'm a sissy, but I'm gettin' a lump in my throat over this whole thing.

Dear zippydodog,

Hey Bill: I'm definitely going to check that out because I'm already frustrated as I can be with this process so far. With every question I get, I find myself turning to ask my husband what to say. I know how pathetic I sound, but I'm really pretty tough but all this is almost too much. I had a man drive over here yesterday from another time zone and still, the first thing he did was start offering to buy this and that. He said he was an expert on pricing these parts and proceeded to offer me 15.00 for a brand new altenater and 25.00 for the still in plastic carbeurater thats shown in my pictures. We paid 250.00 for it at a truck show in 2006! It took all I could do to get the garage door closed and escort him to his car (a Ford). That should have told me something! Anyway, that happens all the time. I want to give someone a good deal, but I'm not gonna give it all away either. Your message has helped me alot. If I don't at least get my reserve from this auction, I'll follow your advice. Thanks again Bill. It's nice to know there are people who care. Dawn

- chvynut44

Dear chvynut44,

Dawn, It's too bad that you have to deal with these kinds of people sometime. But, he wasn't a true "Chevy Truck Nut" like us (driving a Ford?) We've got a bunch of really good people (ALL of our forum members are good people) on our forum. Like I said, we've been talking about your situation and we're all ready to jump in and help out if this auction doesn't work. And, don't worry about the 25 dollar subscription fee on the website, that's gonna be taken care of. My direct email is: zippydodog@msn.com if you need anything.
Bill

I too would pay her fee and help with the listings if she needs it. I can help resize pics, etc.

68stepbed (Matt) lives right up the road from her. He's a straight up nice guy and I'm sure he'd help her out if he could. Of course I can't volunteer someone else's time:lol: Maybe he'll see this and give her a shout.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

Dear zippydodog,

Dear Bill and everyone: Thank you all VERY much! I just wish I would have visited 67-72 Chevy Trucks before I listed with e-Bay. I visited it yesterday and I felt right at home!! In the short time I looked around, I laughed out loud. I am sure I would have gotten alot of support and valuable advice before jumping into this auction. I decided to go out and attempt to sort the parts and motors, etc. so that I could take better pictures so people can get an idea of just what I have. Both of my girls came over and helped and we got alot done last night. They're both expecting so I wouldn't let them lift too much but we should have some more detailed pictures by this evening. Would I be able to post additional pictures to my listing at this point? I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgable about how all this works. Until a couple of months ago, I didn't even have a computer. Well, I'm gonna get back to sorting but on behalf of my family to you and yours and all the awesome people in your forums.... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! Dawn

Good for her, I have no doubt in my mind that if something happened to me there would be some old trucks getting crushed...

My wife doesn't like trucks in progress, at least she likes the finished one's!

Nah man, you aren't a sissy. You're reaching out to another human being that's in a tough place. You can tell just by the correspondence above that there was a lot of love involved. I mean, how many other widows do you know would plant flowers in trucks instead of scrap em? It is an emotional thing, (even just reading about it on the internet) and everyone here should be commended on doing the right thing. I'm proud to be a member here.
